Uncommon Goods Review and Giveaway – Closed

Okay, we’ll get the boring stuff out of the way early: I received product samples from Uncommon Goods to facilitate this product review. All opinions are my own.

Uncommon Goods is a company that sells everything from gifts for women, handmade items, and even DIY kits. But aside from their products, what I really love about Uncommon Goods is how much they feature and work with independent artists. They even feature some of the creative spaces of their artists in a Studio Tours featured on the Uncommon Goods Blog. And the company hosts design challenges for aspiring artists and crafters to feature their work and challenge their creativity. You can learn more about those design challenges here.

For this product review, I received a few different DIY kits to review: a terrarium, a lip balm kit, and a floral garden kit. Unfortunately, the weather here in Michigan isn’t quite flower-ready, but I’ll definitely update this review when I’m able to post photos of my new flower garden.

As for the lip balm kit, you might remember a project I did a few months ago where I made some lip balm flavored with Kool Aid. And I have to say that having a kit made the whole project so. much. easier. I didn’t make a complete mess and have to try three different combinations of ingredients before coming up with something that didn’t melt or have a weird texture. The lip balm I made with this kit has a really awesome chocolatey mint flavor and I just want to eat it even though I know that would be a bad idea.

And the terrarium is probably my favorite of the bunch. I don’t have much of a green thumb at all, but I love having plants around. So this was a pretty great way for me to actually start something from scratch but not have to do too much maintenance. I’m even thinking that the container might offer some neat customization opportunities in the future, but for now I’m focusing on keeping the plants alive and I was so happy to see little buds after just a few days!

Of course I love the DIY kits, but there’s plenty more to choose from if you browse through the rest of the site. Click here to see some of the great handmade gifts, click here to see some gifts for women, and here if you’re looking for some unique gifts for men.
